Houston - Day 1

BLAKE FONDREN

Blake Fondren helping remove tile flooring.

Our trip to Houston started with safe travels, some good burgers, and wonderful Texas hospitality. Thank you Whataburger and Lauren Finch’s family!!

Day 1 was an amazing experience. Even after a short night of sleep, seeing first hand all of the possessions, furniture, and pieces of peoples homes stacked up on the curb made you forget how tired you really were. It also brought to realization why we were there, to love and serve.

We went to the first house we were assigned to and met the homeowner, Mario. He was extremely positive and kept expressing his thanks to us for coming to help. His biggest need has been for us to remove flooring and tile affected by the floodwaters and to get his house ready for the next steps of getting it back to normal. While talking to him and watching his positive attitude, I hope I would have the same outlook on everything as he did after losing many of his possessions. We will continue to help remove flooring at his house again for day 2, so please be praying for Mario, his wife, and three children.
